I, in contrary, believe that the subjective reason for US to be a superpower is its reckless life-risking culture and hunger for money. It has nothing to do with fancy words like "creativity".
US became No.1 in tech and science only after WWII. It had been a copycat and producer, not inventor, for 200 years before it gained enough confidence to advertise its freedom thing.
